The hotel
Herodion in Athens is conveniently located
in the city center, right at the foot
of the Acropolis, below the Herodion
theater and the "Plaka", the
old quarters of the city with all it's

the most peaceful and quiet spots in
the city and yet it's situated just
a 15 minute walk from the central square
of Syntagma and the Parliament building. |

Plaka
The
Plaka is world renown for it's quaint
little turn-of-the-century houses and
busy pedestrian-only streets, where
one can get away from the busy citycenter
and stroll right into the past.
The major streets of Plaka are filled
with many shops and picturesque restaurants
(or as they are called here: Tavernas)
for some inexpensive Greek dining experience,
most of them offering live Greek music.

Herodes Atticus theatre
Herodes Atticus theater is located at
the foot of the Acropolis. During summertime
it is the most "in" place
to watch theater, dance and opera performances
from both Greek International Companies.
The cool summer breeze, the terrific
performances and all of this under the
breathtaking presence of the illuminated
Acropolis, is quite unique.

Transport
The most convenient way to get to the
hotel from the Airport & Port of
Pireas, is by taxi.
The fare is inexpensive.
Transportation to and from the city
center (for those who do not want to
walk at all) is possible with the New
Athens Metro and the yellow trolley
buses, which can take you to many hotspots
of the center like the 2 main squares
of Athens:
Syntagma (with the Parliament and Presidential
House, also being the major shopping
district) and Omonia (with the big department
stores), as well as to the National
Archaeological Museum.

:: GETTING HERE FROM
AIRPORT:
All Domestic and International
flights of all airlines operate from
the New Athens International Airport
"El. Venizelos".
Ground Transportation
Athens International Airport(ATH) is
31 km (20 miles) from the city. Express
Bus no. 95 runs to the airport from
Sintagma Square Metro station every
15-20 minutes 24 hours a day. The hotel
is one stop away from Syntagma at Acropolis
Metro station
Taxi services are available to the
city center. Flag starts at EUR 0,70
and there is a surcharge of approximately
EUR 1,00 for taxis from the airport
and EUR 0,20 for each piece of luggage
over 10kg. Therefore, you should expect
to pay between EUR 20,00-25,00 during
day time and EUR 35,00 - 40,00 during
night time to reach the hotel.Trip
time differs from 45 min to 1 1/2
hours depending on traffic.
Airport facilities also include car
hire agencies (Avis, Budget, Hertz,
InterRent), and a 24-hour bank (including
ATMs) and bureau de change.
PORTS:
Pireas Port
Pireas is Athens main Port, situated
25 mins away from the center of the
city and well within city limits.
Ferries, highspeeds and Cruiseliners
depart for all Aegean Sea islands.
Rafina Port
Athen's secondary Port, situated an
hour's drive from the city center,
it offers Ferry and Highspeed Catamaran
service to several islands of the
Cyclades (Mykonos, Santorini, etc.)
departing frequently from and to these
islands, thus making it an interesting
alternative. Because of the way that
Rafina is situated in the Peninsula,
ferries take 1 hour less to reach
the islands, making the trip shorter.
GROUND
TRANSPORT
Metro line stops right in the middle
of Pireas, so you can easily get to
the city center with it. However,
it is not recommended if you're holding
a lot of luggage as it tends to get
very crowded and you definately need
additional transportation anyway to
get to your final destination, once
you get to the city center.
Taxi services are available from
Pireas port, to the city center. Flag
starts at EUR 0,70 and there is a
surcharge of approximately EUR 1,00
for taxis from the port and EUR 0,20
