The Acropolis Museum is considered by many as one of the most important museum in the world. The museum, despite the fact that many of its masterpiece have been stolen and destroyed during Greece's many occuppations, still houses many unique masterpieces and sculpture from the Acropolis' Parthenon.

The Museums houses: sculptural offerings of the Archaic period, pediments of temples dated to the Archaic period, Archaic horsemen, sculptures of the "Severe" style, pediments and Metopes from the Parthenon, the Parthenon frieze, the Erechtheion frieze, parapets of the Athena Nike temple, frieze of the Athena Nike temple, the Caryatids.

:: The archaeological museum of Kerameikos

The museum is now in a renovation process and will be open to the public in Easter 2004.
The Museum of Kerameikos is located at 148 Ermou Street. It was the city's cemetery from the 12th century BC to Roman Times. Despite it central location, this site is between the greenest in Athens. The museum houses stalae, sculptures, vases and figurine found on the site.

:: Museum of the Ancient Agora (Stoa of Attalos)

The museum is even more interesting that the building is a reproduction of the original stoa built by King Attalos II of Pergramum around 150 B.C. The Museum houses a rich collection of: finds from the wells, deposits, burials, workshops and sanctuaries, clay, bronze, bone, ivory, and glass objects, sculptures, coins, pottery, inscriptions, clay lamps, pottery of the Byzantine period and the Turkish occupation, amphoras, architectural parts of the Upper Stoa.

The Goulandris Foundation Museum of Cycladic Art is considered to be one of Athens' most important Museum and houses a private collection of Cycladic art and Ancient Greek art.
It is located in the central neighbour of Kolonaki, 4 Neofytou Douka Street.
The Museum houses a collection is composed of over 350 objects of the central Aegean Area dated between 3200 and 2000 B.C.: marble sculpture and figurines, pottery… and also artefacts from the Bronze Age to the Roman times

The Museum is one of the most famous of Athens. The museum is located in Kolonaki, 1 Vassilis Sofias Av from the other side of the Royal Gardens in Athens' center. It houses the private collection of Antoine Benaki : Bronze Age finds, work of El Greco, the famous Cretan painter, ecclesiastical furniture and many other collections.
The Museum also organises some temporary exhibitions of great importance.

The Museum is housed in a mansion and is situated in Plaka, 1-3 Diogenous Street near the Roman Agora. The Museum offers a great exhibition of more than 1200 Greek popular musical instruments of all sort dating from the 18th century to the present day. The Museum also organises recitals of Greek traditional music.
